Privacy policy

When you write to us, join in, apply or vote, you trust us with your data. Here we explain plainly what we collect, what we use it for, who we share it with, and how you can ask us to change or delete it.

Last updated: October 18, 2026

1. Who we are

Zoneto has two units with one mission. Zoneto Hero is our sanctuary and model for animal welfare and ecosystem regeneration. Zoneto Music is our platform for artists and live music experiences, which supports Zoneto Hero.

This policy covers Zoneto’s three websites:

  • zonetohero.org, run by Zoneto Hero.
  • zonetomusic.com, run by Zoneto Music.
  • reconocimiento.zonetomusic.com, the artist contest microsite, run by Zoneto Music.

Each unit is the data controller for the data collected on its own sites:

We process your data in accordance with Ecuador’s Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (LOPDP) and its regulations.

2. What data we collect and why

We only ask for what’s needed for what you choose to do on our sites.

WhereWhat dataWhat for
Zoneto Hero forms (community, daily action, sponsorship, partnerships) Name, email, phone or WhatsApp, country or city, and whatever you tell us in your message. To reply, arrange the way of taking part you chose and, if you agree, send you updates.
Direct contact by email, WhatsApp or Instagram Your name, contact details and what you write to us. To reply and follow up on your message.
Artist contest application Artist name, name of the person in charge, email, phone, city, social media, link to your song, photo, evidence of your musical path and social contribution, and your authorizations. To review your application, contact you, publish your profile if approved, and run the public vote, the jury and the prizes.
Contest voting Name, email, Instagram handle (optional), the artist you voted for, date and time, and whether you want updates. To prevent fraud: an encrypted fingerprint (hash) of your IP address, never the plain IP, and Cloudflare Turnstile’s anti-bot check. To record one vote per person, protect the fairness of the result and, only if you ticked the box, send you Zoneto updates.
Browsing our sites Technical data logged by servers (IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time) and cookies. To keep the sites working and secure and, if you agree, to understand how they’re used so we can improve them.

What we don’t do: we don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t use it for purposes other than the ones described here. Our sites don’t collect payment card details.

3. Why we can use your data

  • Your consent, which you give when you submit a form or a vote and, separately, when you agree to receive updates. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • What you ask us for: to handle an application, a sponsorship or a partnership, we need to use your contact details.
  • Our legitimate interest in keeping the sites secure and the vote clean (one vote per person, no bots).
  • Legal obligations, when a law requires us to keep or hand over certain information.

4. Data published in the contest

If your application is approved, we publish your profile on reconocimiento.zonetomusic.com so the public can get to know you and vote for you. The profile shows your artist name, photo, a description, your city, your Instagram, the link to your song and, during the vote, your vote count. Winners are announced at the closing event and on our channels.

Voters’ data is never published. Only each artist’s vote totals are shown.

5. Who we share your data with

We work with providers that store or process data on our behalf, and only for the purposes in this policy:

  • GoHighLevel (LeadConnector): forms, contact management and email.
  • Cloudflare: hosting of the contest microsite, the voting database, anti-bot checks (Turnstile) and domain protection.
  • Web hosting for the WordPress sites: .
  • Google Fonts: our typefaces load from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address when displaying them.
  • Meta (WhatsApp and Instagram), when you choose to contact us through those channels.
  • YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud: contest songs play in their embedded players. When you use them, those platforms apply their own privacy policies.

Applications that reach the final stage are also shared with the contest jury for evaluation. We will only hand data to authorities when required by law or a valid order.

6. International transfers

Several of these providers store data outside Ecuador, mainly in the United States. We chose them because they offer contractual safeguards and recognized security measures. By using our forms or voting, you agree to this transfer for the purposes described here.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Form contacts and messages: for as long as we’re in touch with you or until you ask us to delete them. If there’s no interaction for months, we delete them.
  • Contest applications: up to months after the winners are announced. Published profiles may remain as an archive of the edition unless you ask us to remove them.
  • Votes: the anti-fraud record is kept until months after the winners are announced. We then delete the data of voters who didn’t ask for updates and keep only the totals.
  • Updates: until you unsubscribe using the link in every email.

8. Your rights

At any time, you can:

  • find out what data we hold and how we use it (access);
  • correct or update it (rectification);
  • ask us to delete it (erasure);
  • object to a specific use, such as updates (objection);
  • receive it in a format you can take to another service (portability);
  • ask us to stop using it while we review a case (suspension);
  • not be subject to decisions made solely by automated means: if our anti-fraud system rejects your vote, you can ask a person to review it;
  • withdraw your consent, without affecting anything done before.

To exercise them, email hola@zonetohero.org (Zoneto Hero) or hola@zonetomusic.com (Zoneto Music and the contest) with the subject “Privacy”. We’ll ask for the minimum needed to confirm your identity and reply within the time limits set by law.

If you feel we didn’t handle your request properly, you can file a complaint with Ecuador’s Superintendency of Personal Data Protection (Superintendencia de Protección de Datos Personales).

9. Security

Our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to data is limited to the team members who need it, and for voting we store the IP address encrypted, not in plain text. No system is foolproof: if an incident affecting your data ever happens, we’ll let you know and notify the authority as the law requires.

10. Minors

Our sites are intended for people aged 18 and over. If you’re under that age, ask your parent or legal guardian to contact us on your behalf. Contest applications from underage artists require their legal guardian’s authorization, as stated in the rules. If we find we’ve received a minor’s data without that authorization, we delete it.

11. Cookies

We use cookies needed for the sites to work and, only if you accept them, others to measure how they’re used. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie notice. You’ll find the details in our Cookie policy.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll publish the new version on this page with its update date. If the change is significant, we’ll also email the people it affects.
